# Is the email on your Florida license public? What that means for you
Yes, an email address supplied for a Florida health care license can be public. The Florida Department of Health warns that email addresses are public records, subject to applicable exemptions. Receiving a recruiting message at that address does not mean you applied for a job. DOH email advisory.
For a dental hygienist, that can explain an unwelcome surprise: a practice you have never contacted writes to the same inbox you use for licensing. Before replying, it helps to separate the address in the state record from the sender's reason for using it. You can ask where a sender found your address without expressing interest in the vacancy.
Which email address is in the license record?
The relevant address is the one supplied to the state for the licensing record. It may be a personal inbox or an address you use for professional correspondence. A public record does not establish who reads that inbox now, whether the address still works, or whether the license holder wants recruiting messages.
FaroHire's source is the Florida Department of Health licensure file pulled on August 3, 2026. That date describes the copy we obtained. A later change to your state record and the contents of an earlier download are separate matters. We cannot infer your present employment, job-search plans, or preferred way to communicate from an email field in that file.
The explanation for professionals describes where FaroHire gets license information. The state maintains the record; FaroHire operates its own service. The existence of a public file does not mean the state endorses a recruiting message or the practice named in it.
Who can request the record?
Florida's public-records law allows people to inspect and copy public records under the conditions the law sets. A requester does not need to be a prospective employer. The law also provides for withholding information covered by an applicable exemption. That is why a general statement about public records cannot settle whether a particular protected field must be released in your circumstances. Florida public-records inspection law.
For a question about confidentiality or an exemption, contact the department responsible for your record. FaroHire cannot grant an exemption or change the state's disclosure rules. This article addresses Florida health care licensing records; it does not describe the rules for a license issued elsewhere.
How can you check or change the address?
Start with the Board of Dentistry's change-of-address instructions. The board directs current licensees to MQA services for address updates, and its form includes an email-address field. Use the board's official instructions for your record or contact its office if you cannot locate the relevant field. An account sign-in address and the contact address on a license record may serve different purposes; ask which record an update affects.
Check the form's recipient and submission instructions before supplying identifying information. Send licensing documents to the department through its stated process. A recruiter does not need your licensing account password to explain a vacancy or remove you from recruiting messages.
Changing an address does not establish that the department has erased an earlier record or that other recipients have discarded their copies. The form's public-records notice does not promise either result. If your concern is an address already released, ask the department about that record rather than assuming an update will recall it.
Does public access remove a sender's obligations?
Senders still have rules to follow. For commercial messages covered by CAN-SPAM, the Federal Trade Commission's guidance requires truthful sender information and subject lines, a valid postal address, and a clear way to stop future marketing email. The right to opt out also applies to subscribers. FTC commercial-email guidance.
A public address alone cannot establish that a particular message satisfies those requirements. Read the message itself: who is writing, which practice is involved, and how does it explain the use of your address? If those details are unclear, you can ask the sender to identify them. You do not need to send a résumé just to learn who contacted you.
For a message claiming to come from FaroHire, compare its explanation with our professionals page. A message about a vacancy should not present itself as a license-renewal notice or a demand from the state.
What would a FaroHire invitation mean?
FaroHire's process uses profession and location to send an invitation about a particular vacancy. A licensing record gives us no basis to say that you are looking for work. An invitation is a request to consider a conversation; it does not establish an application, a recommendation, or a commitment to change offices.
Under the process described on our professionals page, the practice does not receive the mailing list or see your email address. You choose whether to express interest. Phone contact requires a number and permission that you provide through that process. Receiving an email does not supply that permission.
If the role is irrelevant, you can leave it unanswered. If you want FaroHire messages to stop, use the unsubscribe action. Deleting a message from your inbox does not tell FaroHire to change your contact preference.
How do you stop FaroHire messages?
Open the unsubscribe link in the FaroHire message, then press the unsubscribe button on the page. Opening the page alone leaves your preference unchanged. The button stops FaroHire recruiting email to that address across practices and withdraws call permission given through FaroHire. Read the completion message so you know whether the request succeeded.
If the page reports a problem, follow its retry instructions or reply to the FaroHire message and ask to be removed. The unsubscribe explanation describes the scope of the action. Your personal email link carries the unsubscribe action; this article cannot apply it to an address just because someone reads the page.
That request concerns FaroHire. It does not update your license, remove an address from the Department of Health's records, or unsubscribe you from unrelated senders. FaroHire keeps the minimum record needed to respect the opt-out. If your concern involves both the state record and FaroHire messages, each needs its own request to the organization responsible.
